Ms. Syeda Rumana Mehdi

Ms. Syeda Rumana Mehdi

Syeda Rumana Mehdi is currently affiliated with the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences (FLAHS) as Senior Lecturer and Managing Editor for the Journal of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences (JLAHS). She is an Erasmus Mundus scholar and holds a double Master in Women and Gender Studies from the University of York (UK) and Universidad de Granada (Spain) as well as a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Bennington College (USA). She is a member of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA), Asia Pacific Peace Research Association (APPRA), International Network of Museums for Peace (INMP) and Women’s Regional Network (WRN). Rumana has presented her research at various international conferences hosted by numerous universities including Central European University (Hungary), Multimedia University (Kenya), Middlesex University (UK) and Harvard University (USA).

Her research interests include Islamic feminism, South Asian literature and socio-cultural anthropology. Rumana is also an avid poet whose work has been featured in anthologies in the US, UK, Pakistan, Japan and India.  Her poem “Revisiting Dasht-e-Tanhai,” was featured at the Jaipur Literature Festival in 2021. In her free time, Rumana enjoys crocheting and is always down to learn new stitches!

Dr.  Syed Muzaffar Rizvi

Dr. Syed Muzaffar Rizvi

Dr. Syed Muzaffar Rizvi is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. He holds a PhD in Islamic studies From UoK.  He has also got an M.ED degree from Urdu University. He is also a position holder in BA Islamic Studies from the University of Karachi.

He has vast experience in teaching Islamic Studies, Tafseer ul Quran, Islamic Jurisprudence and Islamic History at various reputable educational institutions. He has been lecturing MA-level classes at the Islamic Learning Department, University of Karachi, AIOU Karachi, IIEE, FEN, AIMS, and NCSC.

Apart from teaching activities, he also hosts programs on national and international TV channels as a guest and host. He has written three books and published research articles in several HEC(Y) Category Journals. He has participated as a guest speaker in various seminars and conferences. Apart from this, he has also won the first-position award in the Al-Sindh Natiya competition.

Mr. Muhammad Taqi

Mr. Muhammad Taqi

Mr. Taqi holds an M Phil degree in Pakistan Studies from the University of Karachi along with a Master’s degree in Arabic from the University of Karachi. He has gained sufficient knowledge of Arabic literature and language in Arabic medium from Islamic education institutions located in Iraq and Iran.

He has been teaching the Arabic Language both spoken and classical for the past 15 years to different Islamic researchers, professors and students from institutions such as Virginia University, America; University of Karachi, Federal Urdu University, Karachi; Habib University, Karachi; Imam Hussain Foundation, Karachi; Jamia Imamia and Al-Mustafa International University, Karachi Chapter. However, his work experience is not limited to teaching. He worked as an Arabic content writer at VectraCom Pvt. Ltd, Karachi and is known for translating the following: various articles and books on different topics such as history and ideology, the Friday Sermon for many scholars from Iraq and Lebanon and an Arabic movie, “Babul Al-Murad”.

Ms. Saima Yousuf

Ms. Saima Yousuf

Ms. Saima Yousuf is a lecturer of Pakistan Studies at Ziauddin Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences since January 2021. Before joining Ziauddin University, she worked as an adjunct faculty for World History, Pakistan studies and IR at Iqra University for over three years. She also previously served as a lecturer at Bahria College Karachi for about a decade. She also has work experience as a freelance writer.

She is currently doing her MPhil in European Studies at Area Study Center for Europe (UoK). She did her M.A in IR from the University of Karachi (2009) and a B.A. in Elective English, Education and Economics from St. Joseph’s Girls College (2006).

She completed a six-month duration research fellowship with the Hann Seidel Foundation, Germany (2020). As a part of a fellowship program, Ms. Saima Yousuf has authored a book chapter on “Economic Migration in Karachi: A curse or boon?”

Her research interests include migration and associated issues, gender politics, environmental issues, politics and history in general.

Waheed Murad

Waheed Murad

Mr. Waheed Murad is a lecturer, with a master’s degree in Pakistan Studies from the University of Karachi, he has been a part of FLAHS since February 2023 and is highly passionate about educating others.

Previously, Mr. Waheed has taught at various academic institutes. Besides Sohail University, Dow University and Federal Urdu University Besides, he has extensive experience of teaching Pakistan Studies at federal, Sindh, Aga Khan and Cambridge boards at different reputed institutions of Pakistan including Bahria College Karsaz and NCR-CET College, Karachi.

Being a social scientist and an enthusiastic learner, Mr. Waheed’s research interests lie in the domains of Indo Pak History, political science, geography of Pakistan, constitutional law, foreign policy of Pakistan, environmental studies, feminism, education, current affair (National and International), Sufism in Sindh, Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi and Saraiki Literature.

His research areas range in textbooks of Pakistan Studies, federalism in Pakistan, eighteenth amendment and the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. (Shah Jo Risalo)

Wajid Ali Wajidi

Wajid Ali Wajidi

Mr. Wajid Ali Wajidi is a writer and author. He highlighted the emerging issues of the society in his research articles published in renowned journals. Some of the topics are Pakistani Education System, Our social issues, Financial Murder, and financial terrorism. He has written a book titled “Poverty and Ignorance causes and effects and their solution in the light of Quran and Sunnah”,

He is doing his PhD research along with teaching on the topic “Capitalism, Socialism and Islam a Comparative study”.

With a degree of Master of Philosophy in Islamic Studies from the University of Karachi, he has been a part of FLAHS Ziauddin University since January 2023 and is highly passionate about educating others. Being an Intellectual and Islamic Scholar Mr Wajid Ali Wajidi tries to resolve current generation issues. He believes that by adopting Quranic teaching, we can change and reconstruct our society.

 His research interests lie in the domains of Islamic Studies, Quranic sciences, Socio-eco affairs, current issues, Philosophy, History, and logic.
