Ms. Shumaila Atif

She is working for the Ziauddin University Hospital as a Lecturer & Clinical Psychologist. She has done DRCD (diploma in rehabilitation of child disorders) and recently completed her MPhil in Clinical Psychology. My expertise are in the area of Psychological assessment and Therapy, Moreover, she has experience in teaching psychology. Her areas of interest include research and therapy, and she is always looking for new information in order to keep herself upgraded with the new options.

Ms. Mariam Kamran

Ms. Mariam Kamran

Ms. Mariam Kamran is working as a lecturer at the Department of Clinical Psychology, Ziauddin University. Before joining Ziauddin University, Mariam worked as a teacher and supervisor in Leicester, UK. She has earned her Psychology Honours Degree at De Montfort University, Leicester (2019). Miss Kamran has a keen interest in Research and Academia. Through her experience in both the UK and Pakistan, she aspires to help create innovative and unique ideas that will aid in increasing not only student experiences but client’s clinical experiences as well.

Ms. Sarah Jehangir

Ms. Sarah Jehangir

Miss Sarah Jehangir is the head of department for Clinical Psychology. Before joining Ziauddin University, she worked as a Clinical Psychologist at Liaquat National Hospital. She earned her Psychology Masters from the University of Punjab (2003) as well as a Post Magistral Diploma in Clinical Psychology from Institute of Professional Psychology, Bahria Univertiy. (2004). She completed her Diploma in Health Care Management from IBA in 2017.

Ms. Jehangir is extensively involved in teaching, research, and clinical practice with expertise in child psychology. She has successfully presented research papers in national conferences at the Pakistan Society of Neurology. Her research interests include neuro-developmental disorders and neuro-cognitive illnesses in child, adolescents, and adults.

Ms. Syeda Rumana Mehdi

Ms. Syeda Rumana Mehdi

Syeda Rumana Mehdi is currently affiliated with the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences (FLAHS) as Senior Lecturer and Managing Editor for the Journal of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences (JLAHS). She is an Erasmus Mundus scholar and holds a double Master in Women and Gender Studies from the University of York (UK) and Universidad de Granada (Spain) as well as a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Bennington College (USA). She is a member of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA), Asia Pacific Peace Research Association (APPRA), International Network of Museums for Peace (INMP) and Women’s Regional Network (WRN). Rumana has presented her research at various international conferences hosted by numerous universities including Central European University (Hungary), Multimedia University (Kenya), Middlesex University (UK) and Harvard University (USA).

Her research interests include Islamic feminism, South Asian literature and socio-cultural anthropology. Rumana is also an avid poet whose work has been featured in anthologies in the US, UK, Pakistan, Japan and India.  Her poem “Revisiting Dasht-e-Tanhai,” was featured at the Jaipur Literature Festival in 2021. In her free time, Rumana enjoys crocheting and is always down to learn new stitches!

Dr. Abdur Rehman Khan

Dr. Abdur Rehman Khan

Dr Abdur Rehman is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. He holds a PhD in Islamic studies besides his master’s degree and has been a part of Ziauddin University since 2012. Other than being a research scholar, Dr Abdur Rehman has also earned his Dars e Nizami, which is equal to M.A. in Arabic and Islamic Studies.

He has vast experience in teaching Islamic Studies, Arabic Grammar, Islamic Jurisprudence and Islamic History at various reputable educational institutions. He has been lecturing MS level classes at the Pakistan Study Center, University of Karachi, Jinnah Sindh Medical University Karachi. Parallel to his teaching activities, he is also engaged in research at various levels. Nearly his 13 research papers have been published in different HEC recognized  Y category journals. He has also been involved in conducting MPhil research vivas at Baluchistan University and Al – Hamd University Quetta Baluchistan.

His research interests include Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, Comparative Religions and Islamic History. He has also a keen interest in National and International Politics.

Dr. Arif Mahmood Mustafai

Dr. Arif Mahmood Mustafai

Dr Arif Mahmood Mustafai is a PhD. Islamic research scholar. Presently he is an Assistant Professor of Islamic studies at Ziauddin University, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences Since Sep 2015.

Before joining Ziauddin University, he worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Islamic Learning, Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Karachi.

Besides that, many of his research articles have been published in HEC approved research journals. Nowadays he is engaged in M.Phil./Ph.D. Viva Voce Examiner and Research Thesis evaluator at the University of Karachi and Al-Hamad Islamic University Quetta.

Mr. Muhammad Taqi

Mr. Muhammad Taqi

Mr. Taqi holds an M Phil degree in Pakistan Studies from the University of Karachi along with a Master’s degree in Arabic from the University of Karachi. He has gained sufficient knowledge of Arabic literature and language in Arabic medium from Islamic education institutions located in Iraq and Iran.

He has been teaching the Arabic Language both spoken and classical for the past 15 years to different Islamic researchers, professors and students from institutions such as Virginia University, America; University of Karachi, Federal Urdu University, Karachi; Habib University, Karachi; Imam Hussain Foundation, Karachi; Jamia Imamia and Al-Mustafa International University, Karachi Chapter. However, his work experience is not limited to teaching. He worked as an Arabic content writer at VectraCom Pvt. Ltd, Karachi and is known for translating the following: various articles and books on different topics such as history and ideology, the Friday Sermon for many scholars from Iraq and Lebanon and an Arabic movie, “Babul Al-Murad”.

Ms. Saima Yousuf

Ms. Saima Yousuf

Ms. Saima Yousuf is a lecturer of Pakistan Studies at Ziauddin Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences since January 2021. Before joining Ziauddin University, she worked as an adjunct faculty for World History, Pakistan studies and IR at Iqra University for over three years. She also previously served as a lecturer at Bahria College Karachi for about a decade. She also has work experience as a freelance writer.

She is currently doing her MPhil in European Studies at Area Study Center for Europe (UoK). She did her M.A in IR from the University of Karachi (2009) and a B.A. in Elective English, Education and Economics from St. Joseph’s Girls College (2006).

She completed a six-month duration research fellowship with the Hann Seidel Foundation, Germany (2020). As a part of a fellowship program, Ms. Saima Yousuf has authored a book chapter on “Economic Migration in Karachi: A curse or boon?”

Her research interests include migration and associated issues, gender politics, environmental issues, politics and history in general.
